Jobs

Today i got a letter from DSO Labs inviting me to go for their open house. It comes in a nice black envelope and with a stamp on it. I am pretty sure rest of my engineering friends got this letter too.

Now at this point and age, only engineering firms and drugs companies are employing people. I guess it can be said to be the best thing that could happen in such a bad time is to graduate as an engineer. A number of my engineering friends totally detest engineering job, some because of the job nature , some because of the money issue, some because of the prestige issue(they wanna wear tie to work, not polo tee). In my opinion , i feel those who totally cut off engineering without a second thought is just like taking a gun and shooting at his leg.

Firstly, while it is true working in a bank pays better than a normal engineer, it is not going to be as good as before and it definitely is not as stable as an engineering job. You heard of financial crisis, have u heard of engineering crisis?!

Secondly, we go into an engineering as cream of the crop. Unlike other firms, you enter as second rated grads unless you can show them you are better and it will take like 2 to 3 years?!

lastly, at time like this, engineering jobs is by far the most stable! Bank--> cui... Big 4--> flocked by retrenched Exe from banks...marketing , IT firms--> paycut, freeze headcount.

I guess it is engineering or pharmaceutical companies for now!
